3. march 26 – april 1

Good evening!  It’s practically already Monday, but due to the clocks changing I’m wide awake and ready to blog.  It’s been a fab weekend up in Hertfordshire visiting friends, but I’m feeling like a right old porker after two of the most enormous meals I’ll probably ever have, plus an afternoon treat of tea and scones with clotted cream and jam.  Although it was definitely worth it, I’ll be spending some of this week working that lot off I can tell you!

It’s looking like a junkie week, but I’m slightly changing focus this week onto my personal training work-outs.  I’ve skived off my practice sessions to date because  although I think my boss takes some kind of vicarious post-work-out-glow from my lunchtime workouts, I don’t think he’d like it if I had a three-hour lunch each day to fit in cycling and a pt work-out.  However, I do need to mix it up a bit, so this week it’s all about the pt work-outs.

the plan stan

monday:  RevAbs power intervals + pt work-out

tuesday:  RevAbs full throttle intervals + pt work-out + pole

wednesday:  RevAbs total strength/mercy abs + pt work-out

thursday:  personal training + pt work-out (plus possibly RevAbs power intervals, but only if time allows it)

friday:  RevAbs full throttle abs + pt work-0ut

saturday:  RevAbs power intervals + 32k cycle

sunday:  gymnastics

All in all it looks like another junkie week, so in the nicest way, I really really hope that the food baby that I’ve acquired over the weekend will be staying long!

the result

Well the most that can be said for this week is that it was a fail.  The least was that it was an epic fail!  Between a crashing headache on Monday and the most stressful week of my entire career to date, exercise flew out the window.  I managed to get a bit in but nothing like the plan … let’s see …

monday

rev abs:  woke up with a terrible headache

pt practice:   argh!  where did all these work deadlines spring from?!  No chance to get to  breathe, let alone go to the gym

tuesday

rev abs:  had to be at work at 6am.  No chance of rev abs first, I could barely drag my sorry carcass out of bed at 5:00, let alone at the 4:00 it would’ve required to get rev abs in

pt practice:  are you kidding?  work work worrrrrrrrrrrk

pole:  made it!  hurrah!  And loved every damn second … except for the routine where I looked like the tin man, while everyone else looked like Gumby.  No surprises there though …

wednesday

rev abs:  waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh another so-called morning (I prefer to refer to it as the middle-of-the-damn-night), another arrival at work.  Will this ever be over?

pt practice: not over yet.  Still working.

thursday

pt: awesome times bebe!  Got to work off a bit of stress with some serious circuits, plus an introduction to kettlebells!  Has anything ever been so much fun?  Although with my lack of co-ordination it seemed not just dangerous but positively homicidal to be swinging that thing around … I pity the others in the gym, especially given the rictus grin on my face and the maniacal twinkle in my eye.  Well, it has been a stressful week.

pt practice:  burst into tears when I realised there was no chance of going.  Such is life.  My barrister kindly passed me a tissue and awkwardly patted me on the shoulder.  Isn’t he lucky to have had such an insight into the female psyche …

friday

rev abs:  I have entirely given up for the week.

pt practice: whatevs.

 saturday

rev abs:  see Friday

cycle:  Just didn’t do it.

sunday

additional workout:  after the epic fail of the rest of the week, I made up for it a little bit on Sunday with a combination of last week’s circuits (first circuit:  30 weighted squats, 30 push-ups, 30 deadlifts, 1km bike, repeat weights then 1km row, repeat weights then 1km treadmill; second circuit:  kettlebells routine, 10 body-weight squats, 10 push-ups, 1 min VO2 max  run (with the minute not starting until truly at VO2 max), all repeated three times).  Decided to relax in the jacuzzi afterwards, but was too knackered to open the door to the pool area.  Had to wait there looking pathetic until some nice strong dude who hadn’t done any working out came along and kindly opened it for me.  Got a funny look.  Too shattered to care.

gymnastics:  for the first time since my foot got injured, felt like I was back to true form.  Didn’t look it though and Sarah’s now better than me at handstands.  ARRRRRRRRGH.  Had fun though!

conclusion

NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT OF HEART

could not have been a worse week – it wasn’t even half-hearted, there was no heart at all.  On to better things next week!
